Exhibition day

The 16th of August was Ekka day (Exhibition day) in Queensland. We spent a beautiful winter day in the New Farm park with friends and a picknic.

Of course we all sat around the cold esky.

During the day we played different Australian games like Cricket and Rugby. To even the odds a bit Patrik introduced a very Swedish game to our friends. Kubb! The Kubb game comes from an island, Gotland, off the east coast of Sweden.

Swedish westcoast

This is what the fantastic swedish west coast outside Lyrön looks like.

Evenings are beautiful with the evening light.

Favourite aussie gift

This was probably our most appreciated aussie gift. Ingrid (Patriks niece) will probably be a rugby player when she grows up.

Visit to Sweden

Saturday the 15th was the day for "Taubespelen", the first activity - This is a music festival at Flatön, Swedish westcoast island. It is the island where the songwriter Evert Taube spent his summers. A fantastic day with family and music.

Here is from left, Michael, Kerstin, Asta, Marie and Monica heading for some drinks during the break.

We took the chance to take a dip in the Sea from Patriks parents boat. Here's Patrik in the boat and Kristins father Tommy in the water.

Sunday evening 16th of August we went to Askim (south of Göteborg) to Kristins parents house.
Lot's of close friends showed up in Askim for a BBQ. We had a lot of catching up to do.

On Monday 17th was dedicated to a shopping tour in Göteborg.
Our friends Maria & Joachim had bought a new house in Hovås. A good reason to have another BBQ.
Emil, Joachim and Ola checking out Joachim and Marias housewarming gift!

Karin, Ola, Kristin & Thomas enjoying a rose' wine.

On Tuesday 18th we then left for the country side, Dalsland. To celebrate Maries and Monicas birthdays at Svensson's summer cottage.
Here is Kristins sister Marie and her boyfriend Michael at their cousins farm. It is truly the real the country side.. with pigs, cows, tractors, hens running around, wild flowers..Here's Monica & Tommy making their welcoming toast.

The following day 19th we had a beautiful day at Fjällbacka and Grebbestad, two of the most fantastic harbour towns along the Swedish west coast.

This is Fjällbacka, a harbour that we usually visit while out sailing.

On Friday 21th we visited Per, Cilla & Signe at Nötesund where they are building their house.
Their horses arrived just as we where leaving and Signe got to try riding.

Friday eve we where invited to our friends Johan & Cissi at her parents house in Önnered. It ws a party night we won't forget in some time!

Then on Sunday 23rd we visited Karin & Gunnar who has completely refurbished their house and put a small Greta to the world while we where in Australia.

On Monday 24th Patrik had a dinner at Ashebergsgatan with a couple of guys. While Kristin headed off to Gretas & Henriks appartment in Majorna for a girls dinner with Sara & Greta.

Tuesday 25th we caught up with Maria, Henrik and their daughter Melinda. They invited us for a picknick and a bath in their close by lake Kåsjön.
Wednesday the 26th we met Staffan & Linda Edlund for breakkie at Vasagatan. Linda showed pictures & gave us a review of her wedding and Staffan gave us a review of what it was like working at Taubespelen.

Orust was our next stop. The entire family Signert was gathered at the Signerts summer cottage at Lalleröd. Patrik playing with Helmi and Ingrid. Patriks brothers two daughters.

Wednesday night we did wine tasting on a Swedish summer evening at a small island off the west coast. The scenery and the evening was terrific!

Back in Brisbane

Swedish summer was fantastic to experience. It is one of the few times a year when Sweden beats Brisbane in temperatures.

Pictures from our vacation are coming soon...
